2015 forward: eQSL.cc is now located in several data centers
Rather than try to describe it to you, let us point you to our provider and the SoftLay-R Data Center page for a better description of our world-class connectivity, power, and operations center support.
Our servers are currently located in Dallas data centers, but SoftLay-R has facilities around the world, giving us the ability to expand into Europe and Asia as we continue to grow rapidly.
Facility where eQSL.cc was located 2004-2010
A small peek into the 30,000 square foot data center where eQSL.cc is located. Power is supplied by 2 separate grids and Internet access is provided by 8 separate companies! |
A row of cabinets sits on a raised floor. Underneath are all network cables as well as redundant power connections. |
The network operations center (NOC) on the right is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to handle any outages, denial-of-service attacks, or other problems, and to perform daily tape backups. |
1.5 Megawatt backup generator in case of a failure of BOTH power grids |
An additional 1 Megawatt backup generator adds to the capacity of the generator above! |
A huge Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) will power the entire data center for 80 minutes from batteries while the generators are cranking up |
With 8 separate connections to the Internet, eQSL.cc will have a 100% uptime guarantee for Internet access |
Old Server (retired January 2008)
In January 2008 we replaced the server below with 2 new servers,
one of them with 1 terabyte of disk space used as a database server,
and the other acting as web server, application server, and mail server.
The Dell PowerEdge 2600 server has won several awards for speed and performance |
Dual 2.8GHz Xeon processors share the duties, making everything run faster |
Three 73GB SCSI hard drives turning at 10,000 RPM in RAID 5 configuration provide maximum speed and fault-tolerance |
Dual power supplies fed from independent power grids ensure that if one power supply fails, the server will continue running |
Why no pictures of the new 2008 server?
Our new configuration is 2 separate servers.
The new room in the datacenter housing these 2 servers has such high security,
we are not allowed to show photos of it. Sorry!
