There has been much debate about how to get more people to use eQSL, and how to counter the "no eQSL" attitude of many.

This weekend is the CQ-WPX-SSB contest, and as usual, most of the contest stations are "no eQSL".

eQSL already has an agreement with CQ that eQSLs (from AGs) can be used towards CQ's awards... maybe there is scope to develop this relationship further, so how about this as a suggestion to propose to CQ:

  • Any QSL within any CQ contest that is confirmed by eQSL (AG) gains an extra point.

There Clearly there are practicalities to resolve, and but it's just an idea?! But I suspect this might be enough of an incentive to many of the contest calls... and I suspect that once people realise how easy it is to eQSL, they might be more inclined to use it

May be too difficult to implement Andrew.
What I do is try to mention eQSL during my QSOs. Also, if I look up a station on eQSL and see their QTH end date has passed, I send them an email reminding them to update that in their profile. Another thing you can do is if you look up a station and find they are not an eQSL user try to see if there are eQSLs waiting for them. If so try to notify them by using the email link provided. Many times you can find their email on QRZ.com.

Hi Andy

Fully agree with everything you say. However this doesn't seem to be working.

The most common response is that "eQSL is pointless as it isn't valid for awards"... therefore eQSL needs to have a bit of carrot to incentivise new users.

Andrew,
You can mention that eQSL has their own eAwards and that eQSLs are accepted by CQ for those awards.

any chance CQ could submit logs to eQSL? Or--- on the log test page have a check box to send to eQSL at thje same time as it sends in to their server? Possible problem, appear eQSL wants ADIF and CQ wants cabrilo.. Or am I misreading this?

Further to this; i notce on QRZ.com under STATION data QSL INFO many stations have E-QS L checked NO. However when i check E-QSL SEARCH they are listed AG. Also notce on QRZ.com that qsl nfo on top of page that several statons do not have E-QSL lsted for there qsl forwardng, yet they list Yes in their data if they E-QSL. Maybe our members should be promted to update all their sites informatio. E-QSL puts the FUN back into my qslng. 73
