Can RF energy effect my electric utility meter giving an erroneous reading?

Mac,
Enough RF can probably affect a lot of things, but this question can probably be answered best by your electric utility.

Thank-you for your reply!
I really don't want to open a can of worms with the electric company. I just wanted to know what the probability is of such a thing happening.

If there is RF creeping along your power lines, I would think it could affect your electric meter.

Think about the RF getting into your head and affecting that!

My (electric) meter gets affected by a lot of things. Me using the amplifier (AL-811( . The 220 air conditioner and clothes drier.

Sometimes my RF on 80 meters makes my Samsung flat tv/monitor go kaflooey. Menu things pop up. Recently the volume went all the way up and wouldn't stay down.

P.S. No you can't blame RF on your high electric bill. (Like your Dog Ate your Homework.)

I agree with Alan, the only meters it might affect are the digital ones that use a power line transponder to post your meter readings. AND then it would have to be very HIGH power and it would probably only zero OR stop the meter. You should not be on a low enough band to be able to cause a problem. The meter reports the error and locks up or defaults to ZERO if tampered with. (Tacoma WA. City Light - as reference - 9600 baud)
