I am not a dedicated pot hunter, but I do find it niggling that my callsign variants don't seem to contribute towards 'my' single tally ..

As well as G3XDH I have also been GW3XDH GR3XDH and will be GQ3XDH and GO3XDH and quite probably GM3XDH ..

eQSL seems to regard these as separate entities and keeps separate 'awards' lists for each

It is because some of your callsigns are in different countries.

All accounts that are linked together will be combined for awards, just so long as it makes sense to do so, i.e. accounts need to be in the same country for eDX awards.

So credits from all of your English accounts will be combined for awards, and credits from all of your Wales accounts will be combined for awards, but they won't be combined with each other.

That is basically as I suspected .. but bearing in mind that they are all variants of 'G' .. UK they are in the same country .. and the specials GR, GO, GQ apply to the whole UK and are not subject to the sub area prefix ieg GO (Olympics) does not become GWO in Wales, they really should (My opinion) be considered the same ..

and what happens if I go to say Germany and work as DL/G3XDH .. is that counted as another country?

Not that it's all that important, just a litttle niggle

It is nothing to do with prefix, it is to do with country you are operating from, and Wales is a different county than England.

And certainly if you work in Germany as DL/G3XDH, that is a different country :)

Here are the rules for the eDX100 award: http://www.eqsl.cc/qslcard/eDX100Rules.cfm

See rule #19: All stations must have been contacted by the applicant from the same eDX100 country. The location of any station shall be defined as the location of the transmitter. For the purposes of this award, remote operating points must be located within the same country as the transmitter.

Ben, to echo what David has said...

The UK is made up of 7 DXCC entities... G (England), GD (Isle of Mann), GI (N.Ireland), GJ (Jersey), GM (Scotland), SU (Guernsey) and GW (Wales)

For eDX etc each DXCC entity is treated seperately.

The special calls GR, GQ, GO are a bit confusing, and will apply to the DXCC that the operator has defined them to be...!

OK .. fair enough, they are the rules

its just that it is a pain if I go a few miles from home over the border into Wales, which in political terms is part of the UK, and pick up new countries/prefixes. they don't count towards 'my' score.

as I said, its not MAJOR .. I am not competitive, or a great trophy hunter .. it just niggles that they only count to my personal score when I have got my Welsh / Scottish ... etc hat on

Hi Ben

I sympathise... one a brief business trip to south Wales, I stopped in the Newport Wetlands Nature Reserve (WFF reference and lighthouse) and somehow bagged ZL and P49 contacts

These are uniques for me, but sadly they don't help my (main call) totals...

But guys, just think how happy you are making other hams when they work you mobile every few miles and keep getting new DXCC countries.

BTW, I would not suggest that you tell a Scot that he is in the same country as the English! Wales is a seperate country indeed, ruled by a prince, who however does have rather close ties to the Queen, bless her heart. A Highland Regt Major General explained to me long ago that England is ruled (with help from Parliament) by the Queen of England, while Scotland is ruled (again with help from the Scots Parliament) by the Queen of Scotland; they just happen to be the same person!
