I can download my in box and the page comes up and I select ADI and a file is generated but it is a text file? even though it has the ADI extension? What am I missing? Using Win 7 home prem.

Somewhere in Windows 7 folder options there will be a check box called "Hide well known file extensions"
Turn that option off. I don't have Windows 7 so I can't tell you the exact menu option.
Run your test again with just a few records and see what the full file name really is. It should display the download filename with either xx.adi.txt or xx.adi
