I've just joined eQSL and uploaded my entire log from Logger32- all 200 entries of it :-). I read that having done this an eQSL is sent for every matching QSO. How is this done? Has the system sent 200 emails to the recipients?

No, it has sent 200 eQSLs (not emails), it has nothing to do with a matching QSO. They will show up in the recipients inbox assuming they have an account, if not they will still be in the system and will show up when/if the user creates an account in the future.

Welcome to eQSL! :)

Tahnks for that Dave. It's becoming clearer gradually. I guess what I need is a Dummies Guide to eQSL. So if you don't mind I'll press on: So I have 236 qso's in my inbox and 114 in my outbox. This presumably means that of the 236 only 114 are eQSL members? If this means that 114 members can access QSL cards from me, where does the process of "sending cards" fit in? I've received two emails saying I have been sent cards, which raises the question of why only 2 - not 114? And why would I need to "send cards" if the process is automatic? Like I said, a Dummies guide would be useful - and before you ask I have tried the FAQs :-)

The entries in your inbox are from members who have sent you an eQSL, you need to be a member to send an eQSL. The entries in your outbox are of course the ones you have sent.

When you generate a manual eQSL, either by confirming one you have received or using the manual entry screen, you have the option of sending the user an email to tell him that you have sent him an eQSL. If you generate the eQSL by uploading an ADIF file there is no such option because of all the processing involved; think about a user uploading a log with 2000 records and then multiply that with all the other users on the system uploading at the same times .... a lot of emails!

Check out the following links: http://www.eqsl.cc/qslcard/Presentation.cfm and http://www.eqsl.cc/qslcard/FAQ.cfm , may be of use in explaining things.

Thanks Dave.
It was the automatic transfer bit that I got confused with.
I'll go away now

don't go too far, I may want a contact. I am glad to see one more DX station using eQSL!
