Checking the eWAS status i can see 5 or 6 stations with 51 states!!!!
looking for the "new" state, I found in all cases the same station K3CB giving a new one states for the people. the State is "DC" an the owner of this call sign is in Washington DC. It is a graceful bug! (hi) 73 de Javier EA1AUS Javier Bermejo Adanero |

Qualifying Contacts 16. The term "State" as used in this award shall consist of one of the 50 states in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. The District of Columbia may be counted as a "State" for purposes of this award, but U.S. Possessions (Guam, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, etc) do not qualify as states. As you can see, my english is very bad, sorry for that.

Yes, there are 50 states, but for the purposes of the award they include District of Columbia so the award has 51 possible states (or that's how it sounds to me).

Yes, that's right; DC is being counted as a 51'st state. When I was going for my Computer Science degree we had a saying that any bug that has been in a program for more than three months ceases to be a bug and becomes a feature. I think that is what has happened here :-)

I used to have 42 states confirmed for eWAS, but now I see that I only have 41. There is a new notation that says "(DC and MD count as a single state)" So I guess they got that part fixed, but have decided to keep DC and MD as seperate entities. So now the total states are 50 not 51.

Why does the certificate just say 50 states and not 50 states of the USA? There are other countries with States, not just the USA.
