I am new to this and some things just are not obvious to me. In the Archive listings, some lines have a red X and a green check mark icons; some do not. What're the meanings? Have these red and green icon QSO's matched and been acknowledged by the system? Or is some manual action required? What about the QSO's with no icons. -Bruce

Bruce,
Basic steps:

1. Make QSO(s) and log it. Other Ham makes QSO with you and logs it.
2. You and other Ham Upload QSO(s) to eQSL.
3. If the data matches, an eQSL is generated to both of you in your InBox.
4. If no match is found, you still get an eQSL, but it has the red X and a green check mark icons and it needs to be verified and confirmed manually (green) or rejected (red).
5. If you can confirm the QSO in your log, use the green check mark if not, use the red X.
6. The eQSLs in your InBox that don't have the red X and a green check mark icons are auto confirmed and can be displayed and sent to your Archive.

It's really not all that confusing. If you really get stuck with something, use the 'Help!' link above to send an email to the support people. Read the Articles and White Papers for more info.

73 and good luck!

Thanks, Andy. That's a big help. One more question. If the QSO is unmatched in my Inbox that may also mean that the other amateur has not yet uploaded his/her log to eQSL, right? -Bruce

If You mean your OutBox.? That is correct. Nothing goes into your InBox unless someone sends it to you. All your QSOs start in your OutBox. If they are matched, they go into your InBox.

Just to clarify, QSOs do not have to be matched to be in the inbox. If someone sends you an eQSL, it goes to the inbox.

If the eQSL in the inbox is *not* matched, i.e., you have not uploaded a log entry that matches the entry in your inbox, it will have the green checkmark or the red 'X'. Green checkmark allows you to manually confirm the QSO, red 'X' is to reject.

In my case I upload my QSOs in realtime, as soon as they get logged in HRD they are uploaded to eQSL. So when I go to my inbox most of them are confirmed (no checkmark or 'X'). Any that are not confirmed are not in my log. In most cases it is because there is a mistake, the user put in the wrong mode for example, or the wrong time etc. I reject these with an explanation, this allows the user to fix the entry in his outbox.

Thanks for the 2 cents Dave. I thought I implied that in steps 3 & 4. Just giving him some basic steps to follow and hoping he would take the time to read and become familiar with eQSL and his logging program because not everyone uses HRD. Especially since they started to charge for it.

Hi Andy, I was replying to your comment: "All your QSOs start in your OutBox. If they are matched, they go into your InBox." , which implies they need to be in the outbox before they show up in the inbox.

I know you know how the system works :) Just the way you worded it might be confusing to someone new to the system.

As far as HRD goes, the basic concept is the same no matter if you log in realtime or not, that being if your outbox is up to date, i.e. you have uploaded all your logs before checking the inbox, the inbox will show the confirmed entries.

Not sure if any other loggers have the ability to upload in realtime or not?? BTW, the last free version of HRD is still available and works fine.

I have the Reject/Accept boxes come up when there are only a few minutes between the two cards. What's the tolerance allowable? Also I hit the accept box and a new screen appears wanting me to enter a new time which then gives me a double entry in my out box as if it was a second contact. How do I confirm a received card with my uploaded card? Adjust my time to match the incoming card?

The tolerance is quite large, 30 minutes I think. So if you are seeing the accept/reject box there is probably something else that doesn't match, mode perhaps?

EDIT: Just checked, the tolerance is +/- 1 hour, so if you are off by only a few minutes there is something else that doesn't match.

Thanks for the feed back. I do have one that is over an hour off. Probably my fault but there is no way of telling for sure. How do I make a correction. Go to my outbox and correct it there or click the green accept button and us the pop-up screen to make the correction.

Assuming that his eQSL is the one with the correct time, you can go to your outbox and use the edit function to fix the time on yours. Once you have done that, the eQSL in your inbox should be matched.

Here is the link:

It is found under the eQSL dropdown on your main page and on the right side of your home page under Articles and Presentations.
