LoTW does not accept eQSL, we know this by now, but if eQSL accept LoTW?

In my opinion it would be a sign of defiance and moral superiority.

But how? It 's very simple:

If I provide to eQSL my LoTW account (username and password), eQSL can not do anything with the account, because the certificate it's my only.

It can only download my confirmations and insert them into the database using a standard eQSL "from LoTW".

In this way our awards would be complete (eQSL + LoTW), what do you think about?

Cosimo,
You can do that now,in a way. Go to 'Your QSOs' then click on "Down load Report'. Choose your date, QSL detail and Call. Then hit download Report. You will get an ADIF file that you can upload to your log or to eQSL. I would not try to upload the whole file because you may get many duplicates.

Hi Andy,

sure, it would be necessary to read the database to discard all duplicates, but it should not be heavy (imho).

I think Cosimo is asking something different, Cosimo, you are asking to download the credits you have received from LOTW and use them as eQSL credits, correct?

I don't use LOTW here.

What details do you get in the report you download? In addition to the callsign, mode, date/time, RST, do you get all the QTH details, country, Zone, grid, etc.?

Mode might be a problem, I think they convert all digital modes to DIGITAL, or would it show PSK31, Olivia, etc.?

Dave, the report is a regular adif file, i've dowloaded a test report now, this is a example:

<APP_LoTW_OWNCALL:6>IW5ELL
<STATION_CALLSIGN:6>IW5ELL
<CALL:8>W1AW/KH6
<BAND:3>20M
<MODE:4>RTTY
<APP_LoTW_MODEGROUP:4>DATA
<QSO_DATE:8>20140209
<TIME_ON:6>172633
<QSL_RCVD:1>Y
<QSLRDATE:8>20140214
<DXCC:3>110
<COUNTRY:6>HAWAII
<APP_LoTW_DXCC_ENTITY_STATUS:7>Current
<PFX:3>KH6
<APP_LoTW_2xQSL:1>Y
<CQZ:2>31
<ITUZ:2>61
<GRIDSQUARE:4>BL01
<STATE:2>HI
<CNTY:11>HI,HONOLULU
<eor>

IMHO no problem with mode etc, would be nice to export minimal info for eAwards.

Ok, thanks for the info. No idea how hard it would be to do from the programming side here, but I'll bring up up with the Advisory Board.

One problem might be if ARRL figured out what we are doing and starts blocking our requests, already we have problems sometimes with them blocking our requests to get AG via LOTW.

You're right Dave, but if the request was sent from my eQSL page (so with my IP) via javascript, iframe or some, would be trasparent for lotw (i think).

Ok, I just put in the request over on the advisory board site. Don't get your hopes up, but I like the idea! I'll let you know what the response is.

I think I now understand. If I upload the ADIF file from LOTW, it would go into my outbox, but none of those would count for eAwards unless I had matching AG confirmations in my InBox. What we are trying to accomplish, I think, is to have that LOTW ADIF file count for eAwards without requiring a matching InBox entry because the QSOs were already matched and confirmed in LOTW.
This sounds like a good idea if Big Dave can set it up.

Exactly Andy, I wrote in my first post: In this way our awards would be complete (eQSL + LoTW).

Yes, sorry I didn't update the thread. I talked with both Dave, N5UP, and Rich, W3ZJ, about this.

It's not going to happen unfortunately unless we would get permission from ARRL, and the chances of that happening are pretty much zero.

The only way for this to work so that eQSL knows that the data is good (hasn't been tampered with) would be for the eQSL server to login to the users account at LoTW and download a data file there of all the contacts received, using the LoTW username and password supplied by the user.

This is basically an extension of the method used to get AG via LoTW, the eQSL user supplies his LoTW login credentials, and the server here then sees if it can log into the users account at LoTW using those login credentials.

ARRL does not like us doing this and blocks those login attempts from time to time, but mostly leaves us alone, they have never told us to stop.

But, if in addition to just quickly logging in and then logging out, the eQSL server logs in, downloads a potentially large data file, and then uses that data for it's own award program, to put it in Dave's words "I think we would run into big trouble very quickly".

Very thanks for reply Dave. About ARRL? I hope that the light enlighten their minds.
