how do i interpret JT65 signal reports? do i want a more negative number or a less? do i want a -20 or a -1? for some reason i have it that i'm working for a more negative number, but i really don't know why i think that and i'm probably wrong...

I'm not an expert on JT65, but my understanding is that the signal report is S/N (Signal to noise) ratio, so the bigger the number the stronger the signal, relative to the noise.

Received strength (after decoding). The closer to 0, the stronger. Theoretically, the software is
able to decode down to -26dB.

A simple way to understand is a -2dB is stronger than a -10dB signal.
