I've been trying to authenticate via the link to LOTW for days now with NO luck. Does this ever work? I would just scan my license but I'm on the road working for at least a month, and my license is safe and sound at home..

Used to work fine, for years. We have had quite a few complaints recently about this not working, it seems that ARRL is now blocking eQSL.cc from connecting to their LoTW server to authenticate users.
Maybe get your XYL to take a picture of your licence with her cell phone and email it to you?? That will work, just so long as it is readable.

Had the same problem over several days. Suspect this connection will never work so might be better to just remove this method of getting AG from the website.

You might be right. I sent an email off to the webmaster about this.

Use method 2, upload a licence scan. Takes one or two days. If you don't have a hardcopy to scan or take a digital photo of, you get download an official copy (NOT the reference copy, we don't accept that) from the fcc website using their ULS system. Read about that here: http://www.arrl.org/obtain-license-copy 73, Dave - VA3KAB
