Likewise. It costs them nothing, except a few minutes of their time, to upload their logs to eQSL. There is no justification for making a charge. And eQSL are complicit in this racket by facilitating it.
eQSL say they forward all "donations" to the expedition organizers ... LESS a small deduction for their expenses.

Yeah, right.

And a donation, by definition, is voluntary. When it becomes compulsory, it's a PAYMENT.

Totally agree, there is no justification for a $1 payment for an eQSL and eQSL shouldn't have gone along with this idea/enhancement.

DX expeditions all have there own web sites where donations can be made and Club Log is setup for OQRS where charges are made for QSL's and this is where it should start and finish.

I won't be opening any eQSL requiring a payment, please remove this facility requiring payment to open an eQSL,

I already donated the great FT4JA activity !
And now I should pay for EQSL ?
What ???
Unbelievible !!!

Maybe it is better to close my account here and do not longer support
EQSL by uploading my QSOs.

At first I was undecided but the more I think about it, the more I say they can keep their QSL. If I have to pay someone in order to receive confirmation of a contact then I don't think I want it. I believe this goes against the spirit of amateur radio. Yes there are expenses involved but I don't believe anyone asked them to pack up and go just so they could make the contact. If they couldn't afford their trip on their own dime or with the donations that they have already received then why did they go in the first place?

What's next? Charging the people we help during an ARES activation?
