I have returned a series of incoming e-QSL's without changing the 599 on the standard return card to the FT-8 style signal report. Are these QSL's still valid or should I resend them with the proper terminology used with FT-8?

Hi,

It's up to you..

- are the credits valid ? : YES, reports are never checked
- should you resend them ? hard to say...personnally, I don't like to see a 599 when wsjtx displays accurate (?) reports in db's

If these qso's are in a certain date range, you can block delete them :

https://www.eqsl.cc/QSLCard/DeleteBlockLog.cfm

and upload your WSJTX-log.adi file instead

Most wsjtx users either use JT-Alert or their logger to upload in real time (UDP or TCP link)

This way,, you have very little to confirm, maybe a few qso's, now and then, to reject.....incomplete qso, wrong details.....aso

I basically agree with Guy. A "599" report means you believe the two of you completed a good QSO.

BUT, the db reception report is what FT8 is designed to have. It can tell you a lot, or leave you scratching your head.

Voice contacts use "59", maybe at "57" or some other figure of meaning to the one sending the report. "599" is what we consider a sterling report in CW or PSK31.

So I believe we should make the eQSL report for FT8 as the program designed it to be. I have not rejected a 599 card, but have left it in my INBOX and emailed the Sender requesting they EDIT their OUTBOX for our QSO. They always honor the request.
