Hello,

My home QTH is in grid CM97ch, and I did quite a few POTA activations at various QTHs, their logs have accurate QTH grid information such as DM23cr for Joshua Tree National park. I uploaded by combined logs and got warnings saying their grid numbers don't match my home grid.

Without a better eQSL.cc solution (automatic accepting my POTA logs' grid numbers), I tried to split my account into multiple ones, thinking of this:

home, POTA1, home_after_POTA1, POTA2, home_after_POTA2, ......

which is tedious. But when I worked on my POTA1 attached account, eQSL.cc website doesn't let me change my grid number to the correct DM23cr for that POTA activation. Can this be improved by eQSL.cc?

Or even better, automatically accept the grid numbers in my POTA logs?

Any other solutions?

Thanks and 73,
KG6YJ

For POTA, SOTA activations, most members use a /p account with the POTA reference as the account nickname
For instance :
I5EKX/P AG Silver "POTA I-0968" 25-Jul-21-25-Jul-21
I5EKX/P AG Silver "POTA I-0668" 19-Jun-21-24-Jul-21
etc....etc.....
instead of :
KG6YJ AG "4088home" 05-Oct-21=>25-Nov-21 San Jose CA USA CM97ch
KG6YJ AG "4088home" 25-Nov-21=>26-Nov-21 San Jose CA USA CM97ch
KG6YJ AG "4088home" 26-Nov-21=>05-Oct-30 San Jose CA USA CM97ch
Quote: home, POTA1, home_after_POTA1, POTA2, home_after_POTA2, ....

This way, you don't have to switch back and forth from your HOME callsign. Rather tedious, I agree...

This is quite normal, others members will get a confirmation for CM97ch whereas you are somewhere else

It should have been created with the right grid from the start, once you have qso's in the account, the first 4 digits of the grid are locked

Once again, it would imply that the log entry matches your profile, date-range and grid

Thank you F6DKQ,

It sounds like in order to fit eQSL system, before I do any mobile operation such as POTA, I should decide to use a KG6YJ/P or KG6YJ/8 (or other digits) call sign in my POTA QSO's, and register that KG6YJ/P as my attached account. I can define different QTH's for different POTA activations (different time period) using that portable call sign, each one may have different grid number. Is this the way that eQSL system prefers hams to do?

But there're a few things:

1. Software compatibility. Sometimes I use my Android phone (with FT8 app) + my little QDX + antenna to do POTA activation. That FT8 app doesn't support /P call sign well, in that case, regular call sign is preferred.

2. Too late for my previous POTA logs, which all use my regular call sign without /P suffix. Maybe this /P idea is good for my future mobile operations. :)

3. In eQSL forum I see somebody mentioned that LoTW handles this type of scenario pretty well: a certificate maps to a call sign, which can have different locations mapping to it, when uploading logs, pick up a location then upload. Maybe eQSL can learn from LoTW in this regard? Many hams will be happy and eQSL will become more popular.

BTW, I've detached those 2 attached accounts (one starting from 25-Nov-21, another starting from 26-Nov-21), and extended my main account 4088home's end date, i.e. back to before. Is there a way to delete those 2 detached accounts?

( It seems this post should belong to " »Forums Index »Member Discussions »Mobile with many QTH's " category, could you please move it to there? )

Thank you and 73,
KG6YJ
