My ADIF file contains the comments I want to send to eQSL. They used to make it over, but not any more. They are in the ADIF file but not in eQSL any more.

What am I doing wrong?

I suggest that you post a sample of your ADIF record, so that we might see any error. What logging program are you using ?

To see a complete description of the eQSL ADIF content specifications, click on the letters "ADIF" in the phrase "ADIF exports" under "Upload ADIF Log File" on the main page after logging on to eQSL.CC . Alternatively you can go directly to http://www.eqsl.cc/qslcard/ADIFContentSpecs.cfm .
You will note that eQSL imports QSL_Comment, or if not available, QSLMSG. It does not import the "comments" field because according to the ADIF specification that field is for your private log comments not your QSL comment. At one time several years ago eQSL did import the "comments" field but that was about 4 years ago

Here is the comment line from my ADIF file, as created by Win-EQF

The reason I asked is because last week it looked like the comment line was going to eQSL and I spent considerable time posting my QTH for QSO in that line in my database. Now it doesn't go at all.

OK. Just so I know it is no longer supposed to go, I can handle it.

Thanks.

Note also that if you are trying to replace the contents of an existing QSO record in your eQSL account you will have to delete the original record first. Otherwise, your new submission will simply be rejected as a duplicate.

Quite some time ago I suggested to Dave that when a new copy of an existing QSO is uploaded, we should replace the old with the new as LoTW does instead of rejecting it. However, that's not the way it currently works.

I got that replacement doesn't work. I have been deleating records, and adding records, as I try and fix things. I am currently contacting N3EQF to find out about some irregularities in his ADIF format.

Thanks for the url for the specs on what eQSL wants. That has helped a lot. Wish I had gotten that when I started this job. I really didn't want to know about the nitty gritty details of data transfer.

Again, thanks for all your help.

In most cases, log programs automatically meet and enforce those specifications so there isusually not a whole lot of need for users to worry much about them. The <Comment> / <QSLMSG> thing is a notable exception because not all loggers support both comment types. But, they have been around for a long time so if you have an up to date version of your present logger and it doesn't support both comment types it's time to look for a new logger!

I got the latest update of Win-EQF before I started in on this project. BUT: finding a new logger might be a good idea. Win-EQF also doesn't transfer signal reports that contain more than 3 digits correctly (as in a contest report: 59924). It calls it a "STX_STRING" rather than a RST_STRING. ARGHHH. Too soon old: too late smart.

Again, Thanks. Marty

Well be careful here. There different types of loggers optimized for different purposes. I believe Win-EQF is a general purpose logger. WriteLog and N1MM are contest loggers. Usually neither one does the other job well.

If you are a serious contester you really want to use a contest logger during contests because it can be customized to the rules of each contest, track dupes, calculate scores and produce a Cabrillo file for log submission in accordance with the specific contest rules.

Actually, 59924 is not a signal report. 599 is the signal report, 24 is the transmitted or received qso sequence number. A contest logger will handle this correctly but general purpose or DX loggers usually will not.

The solution to this is use a contest logger for contests then create an ADIF file and transfer the QSO's to your general purpose logger to get everything in one place for QSLing and DX tracking which contest loggers usually do not do at all.

grumble. mutter, sputter. I really didn't want to have to know all these details! I am a very casual contester. Thanks for the additional information. I need to make a decision somewhere along here, as to just how much work I am going to go to for eQSL benefits.

Again, Thanks.
