I'm new to this digital logging business. Is it possible to convert the .adi files I can d/l here to MS Excel (.xls) files? I did a Google on .adi and it seems to be an AutoCAD format??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Hi,

Convert an ADI file to excel ? I don't know what for.....
This ADI format, as far as I know, has nothing to do with Autocad plotter files.
It's a simple text file, so you can open it as a text file with Excel, but then, how to set the
delimitors ?

with fixed length columns, it won't work because :

<CALL:4>N3RS<QSO_DATE:8:.........

and

<CALL:10>FR/F6KDF/T<QSO_DATE:8:.......

won't be cut both at the right place

and there's no convenient character either to be used as a delimitor.

So, you'd better look for a software which imports an adif file and can export to a lot of
files, Excel........aso.......Swisslog does that and certainly others.

Good luck

I convert my excel spreadsheet log entries into ADIF format. I found good instructions on how to do this on the web. So it should be possible to write excel expressions to do the reverse conversion.

ADI is an ASCII text format. I can view my ADI files in Notepad. The AutoCad format must be something else

and here is some reading to get you started

Let me know if I can help you anymore

I simply double clilck on the ADI file and MS Excel opens it as an XLS file.
No special conversion necessary.
