Could really do with supporting output power level in ADIF and eQSLs; for QRP enthusiasts this is important. Currently all it's possible to do is add a note in the comments.

This could also underpin QRP variants of awards.

You can create a new account as G3ZOD/QRP and attach it or not to your current account. The eQSLs received at that distinct account will qualify as QRP.

But don't forget, the people you QSO with must upload your call as g3zod/qrp, not just g3zod. In the new account you can list your output power on the new eQSL you build.

Diego and Andy, thanks for your replies. However, this is illegal in the UK - stations are NOT allowed to add /QRP to their callsigns. If you ever work (on CW or a digital mode) someone with a "G", "M" or "2" callsign signing /QRP, they are acting outside their licence terms.

I actually added a field in the database some time back, but have not yet implemented it. The ADIF specification provides a field for TX_PWR in Watts. What would you suggest we do with the information after we collect it? Is there a cutoff for what is considered QRP these days, or should I just display the Watts in raw form?

Of course, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong!

Graham, I think this is a bit strong... there are the official suffixes (/M, /P, /A, /MM) which are explicitely defined, but AFAICT the rules do not prevent you using any other suffix. In fact, I'm fairly sure any other suffix is allowed, as long as it is not a DXCC entity prefix (and therefore causing confusion)

Quite where that leaves /MM (both a defined suffix, and of course the prefix for Scotland) I'll leave for a seperate debate

Having said that, personally I feel that /QRP is a bit naff :) And your original suggestion is a sound one.

Resurrecting an old thread, but...

>> Is there a cutoff for what is considered QRP these days

I believe 10W on phone and 5W on CW/data is the usual cutoff

I seem to have one card waiting for pa5mc/qrp.
But I'm registered as PA5MC. Checked the log and I really made this qso.
Can this one be added to my normal account.

And btw like the idea of having qrp status with the award.
But since I make all my contacts with qrp power I just took it for granted to have myself registerd with just my callsign.
I think it is a bit silly to register PA5MC/m when I'm mobile our /mm our /p for portable.

Maarten,
You could try to send an eMail to the other ham (w1ebm) and ask him to resubmit his eQSL to your home call without the suffix. Or, you can set up a new linked account for pa5mc/qrp. As far as QRP status, you can put that on your eQSL design if you want to.
