From the "My Accounts" screen/list...

Show # of eQSL pending in the Inbox... That would help...

I have a few attached accounts, VE2FET/M, VE2FET/2, VX2FET, CG2FET, etc.... and I have to go into each of them to see if any new eQSL has been received...

Just showing the # of pending eQSL in the Inbox would be a major plus!

Keep up the good work!

Yes... got all that. Here we're talking about the "next/future" system. The way you explain it, the current system, does not address the current requirements from my point of view... and is the reason we are posting in this thread.

Like I've posted again a week or 2 ago. This way of having live data linked back to pass transactions is very dangerous and not representative of the reality on the way we manage QSL cards. Again, my opinion. I'm not thinking on "how to use this sytem and bending around it", I'm here to think of the requirements for what the system should really be, then see how/what could be done to get there, from what is already there? I'm not there. Diffrent hat...

There's the issue of data aging. I do not beleive that holding QSL cards ever is the way to go, neither is a requirements. I do think that we proper requirements were to be done that many issues would resolved by themself. Then, some "way of using the system" rules could kick in. For example, (we need stats on this) but, if after an eQSL card is "seen" by the receipient, the user would have the card only for 30 or 60 days before it (the card, not the QSO record) gets destroyed. Meaning, hey, we provided you with the QSL card, now you have to download it and do what ever you want with it, or have us print and mail, etc... I think you get where i'm going.

Proper evaluation of the capacity requirements added to the % of not retreived QSL (which, badly I'm assuming very high since about 90% of my QSO and eQSL cards are done to Ham which are "not" on this system... so, holding SQL ad vitam aeternam?? That too is what I think the core of the problem... that we need to think around. Am I assuming right?

Hi Vince,

I do save locally all QSL I receive. Try it. They are all below 50K bytes JPG except for some between 50K and 100K, about one over each 10. That's the quality cards you get here.

My whole issue like I've posted on May 13 is the fact that the information/data is "floating/live". Meaning if I send a QSL now and change/update my design next week because I have a new BEAM or RIG, the guys to who I sent the QSL last year will see the new QSL design, graphics, with the new information NOT that does not apply to them...

When a QSL is sent... it's sent. No way on modifying comitted data... maybe it's my personal background talking now but that's the way information system and transactional system works.... like it should be, and not like the hardware/software permits... this is system design upside down. There should be requirements base on the way we do process QSL... then a system that goes along those lines.

It's like if you sent me an email last year and now you're modifying today the email I received last year, directly in my inbox or worst, my archive! and without knowing it... Stop... wrong direction here... IMHO.

On the volumetrics, a card is what? about 50K avg? so... 20/Meg, 20000/Gig or 20 Millions cards into 1000 Gigabytes... not an issue with the drives of today. Add "Compression" to this... could go to 40+ Millions cards into 1K Gigabytes. Not bad!

Just thinking.... still.

Getting more eQSLs » Reply rate May 29, 2006 06:46 PM (Total replies: 4)

Exactly, I do the same. Especially when eQSL says "request already sent" when you enter the other ham email address... meaning, eqsl won't email this ham, he's been told before..

So I email him personnaly. In the last month I've converted a few to eQSL just so (thinking of only myself) I can get confirmation here for awards down the road.

The hard part is I'm going to enter the logs back to 1977... Don't expect all this hard work worth the effort... what will I get? 1 over 100? That's really too bad.

As for eQSL cards management themself, I "save them as" the local computer ASAP since if the ham at the other end change address or design, rig, etc, the card will also change in my archive (it's not saved, it's "linked" to the active ham card design). Many here on eQSL don't understand that. I name the jpg file to the ham callsign.

I also log contacts in LoTW... validation there is less then eQSL... 2 to 3% Here I get about 15%. it's bad they're not LINKED!

Getting there! :-)

So tell me, why is France showing up as a country in the list with (1), and that one is not a member? i.e. F6FRR

VE2FET Sylvain Faust

When I select the "Entire Logbook" I can see the 2 QSO with 2 different ZL2... (New Zealand) and also a QSO with FP/DJ2.. (St-Pierre and Miquelon, its counts for DXCC, etc) and those 2 countries (France possession for one) are not in the list of "Countries" of my Outbox... No New-Zealand, etc...

Why is that?

It's not showing the complete list of countries for who I sent QSL, for who I have records in my Outbox.

Let me know,
Thanks.

Bob, K0RC, I totally agree with you, same goes here, winter cards in the winter with my snowmobile, summer with the harley, etc... if we change it before he received it... no good.

Not a good design, when a SQL card is sent... it should be sent... in this system, it's not "sent" until it's "read"... weird... wait to see a few years down the road before retreiving them, and you get the one of the minute... I do not think it's good.

If you contacted me 3 times in the last 3 years and I get you a QSL each time (different, I change once in a while) and you come and get them now, you'll have all the same... no, I don't like that....

What do you think all, and the system admin?

Thanks.
