Hello Steve:

And, thanks for being the first to use this forum.

All HAMs are also SWLs, so I that means that I began in July 1961 (as WV2RSX) to listen for other stations on the air.
I hope that this forum serves SWLs concerns with eQSLing.

I am not familiar with that RX320 receiver Steve. Can you tell us more about it, please? Is it double conversion, solid state, etc. ? What do you use for an antenna there ?

Hello Vince nice to meet you. I Have my Tech License Im KG4QGR operating here on 2m local. I dont do to much rag chewing mainly Listening is my thing. However I know the FCC may change a few thing about License in the future. I dont really have the time to put towards Morse Code so maybe with the revamp Ill upgrade this summer depending on the FCC turnout.

The RX320 is a PC controlled Radio made by TEN-TEC it has DSP technology and has good reveiws on the magazines and Passport book. I really like it alot. Curently Im using a 70ft Longwire antenna. I plan on making a longer wire and better set up soon as spring hits.

I still have alot to learn I think this is a great site for collecting QSLs hopefully we can get more traffic here and trade contacts we get and those rare catches.

So far the farthest I have heard and ID as far as HAM is down in Georgia and a few here near Cinncinati and OHio. Look forward to hearing more...

Hello Steve its nice to meet you. I am also a ham radio operator N2ONJ, and my name is Joe.

I live on Long Island, NY and also do quite a bit of listening on my Ten Tec RX320D. I use antenna approximately 60 foot long, that is maybe 20 feet up on a tree limb. I also received this as a christmas gift in 2004, and have used it everyday since.. I enjoy listening to the utility channels, shortwave broadcasts, other amateur radio operators, and also have tried some mw dxing with just some modest success.
I really do enjoy amateur radio and SWL but seem to divide up the time almost 50/50.
However when the bands are open I love to try making some good dx contacts.
You seem already to be enjoying the hobby, and I am sure as time goes by your interest in the radio hobby will only deepen.
If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask,and I would gladly help you if I can.

Hi Steve,

welcome to eqsl ..

I also still listening on the Shortwave Bands and I am a Ham too ( YL Station ). I cannot make those big DX Contacts from my home QTH because I do not have those antennas for. For CW it is still okay or Contest. So for my listening it is okay with my wires and vertical outside the balcony. For better contacts I am operate portable and I will be in Indiana in June and hope to work a lot of US Counties then. If you hear me in a Qso I will be happy to send you my Qsl Card.

Steve
I live about 10 miles from the Virginia-Kentucky border. One 75 meter frequency you should be able to here a lot of activity on is 3947. At 4pm and 7:30pm the Virginia Fone Net meets, and at 6pm the Virginia Traffic Net is on. At 6:30pm a bunch of us called the Freeloaders have a ragchewing net. I don't know how many use EQSL, but I'm sure we all have hard copy QSL's. The Virginia Fone Net has around 150 members. On 160 meters starting at about 6pm or so (when the band comes up) there is a group that meets on 1950 from KY, VA, WVA, OH and other surrounding states that you shouldn't have any trouble copying.
I'll be happy to QSL.
