Force 12, I have the C19XR up about 54 feet. I put it up in late 2000. Have worked over 300 country and have DXCC. Great antenna.

SteppiR is the Future! No sweet spots, but "sweet" all over the band. Instant check LP/SP openings. Relatively light and small. Would not want any other antenna - even for free

From the other end of the antenna spectrum, I have a 17 m long inverted "L" in the attic of my one- story house at 5 m AGL, fed thru an Icom AH-4 tuner. It tunes on 160 thru 6 m, but I stay off 160 and 80m because of coupling to my ADSL line. TX is about 100 W. Managed eDX in a year, have ver 100 countries worked, including VK, ZS. Also have quite a few good 6 m QSOs including EA. Why? Local zoning makes "good" antenna nearly impossible to have, so I make up some of the difference by using cw a lot (+10 to 16 dB relative to ssb), I listen and reply much more often than I cq (that way my weak signal is exactly on the DXer's listen frequency).

And of course, the biggest reasons for my modest success are those wonderful monster DX antennas of yours that help make up the link margin from your side of the link! Thanks guys, your antennas are what make most of my QSOs possible!

Want a sched (40 m - 6 m, cw or ssb) with a REALLY weak station? Want to see if your monster cannon can punch through to my "stealth antenna?" ke4pt@amsat.org

My most productive wire antenna is an asymmetrical dipole.
It's an 80m quarter on one side, 40m quarter on the other.
I use an LDG tuner and it works great on everything
from 80 to 10m. As the freq goes up, the pattern
changes toward longitudinal along the length
of the wire instead of broadside. And you
get some GAIN when the leg(s) are more
than a quarter.

I use a Shakespeare Big Stick and have worked many countries around the world. Use it for 6 through 20 meters

My only antenna DX or otherwise...a Buddistick with an MFJ 12-foot telescopic whip out second-floor window. Don't have anywhere near DXCC but have worked Europe, Central/South America, couple African countries. Always QRP cw with an FT-817.

Hello all!

As I am living 5.5 metres below sealevel I tried several homemade verticals with an automatic tuner nearby the antenna. I made a lot of contacts with them, but now I use a GPA 404 by Fritzel and I think it is one of the best. It is well build and many hams do use them for more than 10 years without a problem!

Greetings from Holland,

Jan

Home made 48 foot vertical element,
that was base tuned with a home made mobile
Screw Driver Antenna.

Best DX antenna setup I have ever had , next to the
mobile antenna mentioned earlier.

I4FYF,CQ8A,M8M,HK1KYR
were some of my most recent
160m contacts during the CQ-WPX-2010 Contest held
this month and using only 100 watts to do it.
My designation for the contest was
Single Band 160m, Low Power ,Single Operator.

Can't wait for next year's WPX contest.
Oh ya ,, I won CQ-WW-2008 for North America,
single band on 160m and low power as well.

Larry,
Sounds interesting. Would be great to see some photos and diagrams of the 48' vertical. Maybe post them to the eQSL Yahoo group 'OnLineQSL'

ps
I found you on QRZ.com and linked to your web site from there. Great photos of the vertical and your ideas on radials are great.
Thanks!
