Getting more eQSLs » Uploading "OLD" Contacts to eQSL Aug 9, 2007 01:41 PM (Total replies: 10)

Hi Harry,
I'm not sure how eQSL system manages dates, but you might at first try to go to your profile and make sure that the starting date there for your license is at least as early as the earliest QSO you want to download.
Good luck

Getting more eQSLs » eQSL fairness Aug 8, 2007 08:17 PM (Total replies: 13)

Hi Henk... you are thinking of LoTW where there is an automatic confirm (but no card). In eQSL I can download all of the QSLs sent to my call without reciprocating or even uploading my log books! I've begged by email for the matching QSLs in a few cases, only to be solicited for "green stamps." No more! I now download my cards first, check to make sure they are in my log, and then reply with a card. So, I eQSL ONLY after receiving a card, but always 100%. Note, "bogus" eQSLs are very possible!

My "fairness" plea is to couple the download of a QSL with the simultaneous generation and upload of a reciprocal QSL. A response I got from the eQSL staff about that was that membership dropped off when they tried that! Its all about the "green stamps."

I enjoy receiving confirmations on LoTW for DXCC, but I also enjoy the "instant" eQSL card for my brag wall, just like the LoTW and eQSLs that we've exchanged. Best of both worlds!

Getting more eQSLs » Make It a Requirement To Be AG To Use eQSL Jul 23, 2007 03:51 AM (Total replies: 8)

It set not in stone but in $$$. In responses to emails that I sent as reminders to please return an eQSL for an AG one that I submitted, I get a request for SAE and "greenstamps." So now I ONLY return eQSLs if I get one. No more uploading of logs to eQSL. For that I use LoTW. Using both services I get REAL, useful confirmations of QSOs plus in eQSL I often also get the "instant" but otherwise useless e-card.

A "fairness" policy would demand a reply card as a requirement to download a card, but don't hold your breath!

Getting more eQSLs » Donations to Less Deveoped Countries? Dec 19, 2006 08:24 AM (Total replies: 0)

I've made a spot check of the hams on that eQSL plea for donations to upgrade less developed countries. Many of the hams are not Authenticity Guaranteed, and a check of many in bozes show long lists of unanswered QSLs. Now, exactly what is it that eQSL would like a donation for? And how does it benefit all eQSL members?

eQSL must adopt a "fairness doctrine" ... if you want to download a QSL, you MUST acknowledge receipt of the card, i.e., you must QSL! Why? Too many trolls for "greenstamps"!!

Other suggestions » E-qsl replies Sep 12, 2006 03:19 PM (Total replies: 11)

Cosimo
Your English is right on target.
It is time to insist that eQSL change their policy on how eQSL cards are handled. eQSL cards should be available for download ONLY if the recipient "confirms" the QSO by responding with a card. I have too many solicitations for "green stamps" and "SASE's" for a direct card before the person acknowledges the eQSL cards!

I guess I've been the other 'stupid person' who e-qsl's immediately and 100%. That policy will now change!

Getting more eQSLs » favorite dx antennae Jul 16, 2006 11:13 AM (Total replies: 13)

From the other end of the antenna spectrum, I have a 17 m long inverted "L" in the attic of my one- story house at 5 m AGL, fed thru an Icom AH-4 tuner. It tunes on 160 thru 6 m, but I stay off 160 and 80m because of coupling to my ADSL line. TX is about 100 W. Managed eDX in a year, have ver 100 countries worked, including VK, ZS. Also have quite a few good 6 m QSOs including EA. Why? Local zoning makes "good" antenna nearly impossible to have, so I make up some of the difference by using cw a lot (+10 to 16 dB relative to ssb), I listen and reply much more often than I cq (that way my weak signal is exactly on the DXer's listen frequency).

And of course, the biggest reasons for my modest success are those wonderful monster DX antennas of yours that help make up the link margin from your side of the link! Thanks guys, your antennas are what make most of my QSOs possible!

Want a sched (40 m - 6 m, cw or ssb) with a REALLY weak station? Want to see if your monster cannon can punch through to my "stealth antenna?" ke4pt@amsat.org

Getting more eQSLs » Increasing the percentage of Eqsl Return ? Jul 16, 2006 10:56 AM (Total replies: 41)

Experience of this "non-power" user: 60 replies for 189 sent ... about 32%. I don't use LoTW because it is a huge burden for a manual log operation like mine. It took a year and a few reminders to finally make eDX from my very modest station.

I've reminded a few stations by email to pse QSL ... success rate on that is 1 in about 10. If they don't reply the first time, not likely they'll reply a second time.

In a happy note, several stations additioanlly replied with paper QSLs, to which I glady reply on paper via buro or direct.

I see many large in-boxes of some users and would greatly appreciate the effort to clear those up. Thanks and 73, ke4pt
