As Australia has just been added to the e awards list, how about including Russia ? There are a lot of Hams out there and I have had many good contacts in the past.

Some countries are easier to add than others, how easy it is depends on how callsigns are assigned in the particular country.

I assume you are talking combining both the European Russia and Asiatic Russia DXCC entities.

1) How many states are in Russia?
2) Is each specific state given a specific prefix?

Yes David, you are right it wouldn't be easy to work all Russian European and Asiatic regions, but that's what its all about ! It would probably be easier to work 100 DXCC on eQSL.cc

Russian call signs are not that difficult to assign to a particular region, oblast. The first number and following letter in the call sign corresponds to a region. OK you need a list, but its worked for all stations in my log.

Regions, there must be well over 90, according to my list. Anyway it was only an idea, maybe someone else out there has got a better suggestion on how a Work all Russia award could be started??

Up to now I have only worked 17 different regions, so there's a lot of listening to be done !!

If we did it we would do it the same as we did for eCanada and eAustralia.

Using eCanada as an example, there are 10 provinces and 3 territories in Canada. We have different endorsement levels, to get the award you need to have worked 10 of the available credits, and then endorsements for each additional credit to a maximum of 13.

eAustralia is similar, different endorsement levels.

Can you point me at a website that lists all the regions and the prefix that goes with the region?

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the list. After looking at it I think it is not possible to do a Russian regions type award.

The reason is the only way we can do any type of new award is if the data needed is something that is already being tracked in the database.

For eCanada, we track provinces in the database, so easy to add an award for it. We also track prefixes in the database, and the way prefixes are assigned in Australia it was quite easy to add that award.

But when I look at that list you gave, in addition to prefix they are also using the first character of the suffix to determine the region. That is not tracked, and also doesn't fit into the existing awards engine, so would be very difficult to do without a massive amount of work.

Do you have any other ideas for an eRussia type of award not based on regions?

Hi Dave, maybe some of the Russian eQSLcc members will answer this question, Didn't think it was so difficult.
