I was looking at my Outbox and examining some of my cards that have been picked up but not replied to. I see bronze members who have picked up my cards and who have thousands of cards sitting in their Inbox. I don't understand why they do not return cards. It only takes a click of a mouse button? You don't even have to upload your log to return a QSL. Just a manual check of rhe station log will do. If I am not in their log then clicking the reject button would be a courtesy.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Mark,
It's too bad that so many hams don't take advantage of what we have here. It's not always about awards, for me it's the eQSLs. The best advice I can give you is make a list of the QSOs that haven't been verified, and send them an email via the notify links in your outbox. Maybe that will jog thier memories to do the right thing. I've tried it and it's worked for some, but not for others.

Bill,
The more QSOs you upload, the better your return percentage. Right now, you are at 8%. For all my accounts (4) I have 2547 OutBox and 438 Archived. That is 17%. On LOTW, I've uploaded 2587 with 557 confirmed. That is 21.5%. A little better than eQSL, but without the eQSLs. I understand that the return rate for eQSL is a little better with the digital modes, so you may want to try that. The only other thing I can suggest is to promote eQSL to the other hams that you know and get them to become AG. I'm still waiting for eDX100 and eWAS as well as all the other awards.
Good Luck to you Bill and 73!

Hi Andy

Thanks for the reply. I have had most of my QSO in a digital mode using Ham Radio Delux. The logbook system attached to this excellent program supports eQSL but has to be selected under a system setting.
I have noticed very few eQSL members state on their finals that eQSL is expectable. Anyway I will put my thinking hat on and see if I can drum up some ideas.

We've tried to set up an eQSL net. Take a look at that thread. We were meeting at 1900 UTC on Saturday on 14.325 +/- qrm. After a few sessions, only the same people would check in. We asked for more net control stations, but only a couple offered. Also, the summer and Saturday is a bad time for me (camping, travel, etc). Hopefully, the net can restart during late Autumn and continue through early Spring. Once my camp is closed for the winter, I'll try to check in more often. We need to make this like the daily 247 DX net but only maybe on weekends.
Good Luck!

What is the possibility of getting a “Net meet” link advertised on to the home page? Also it would be nice if you could see who’s available on the net via online page maybe linked to a cool picture of the earth. This could indicate the location of eQSL users maybe in red and green when ‘On air”.

Great idea Bill!
You should post the same suggestion on the 'How about an eQSL net' thread.

Hello all .
I am in a similar view about non returns of eQSL`s. I have sent many and received only a small percentage .
What I can`t seem to understand is that the eQSL service is what every amateur operator should be using
A : because it is much cheaper than printing and mailing.
B: because you know that your recipient has received his/her qsl.

Also I think that eQSL should be recognised for ALL DX contests.
As soon as I can afford it ,I shall be upgrading to GOLD membership .
I am just a SWL (registered with the IRTS) going for my licence at the moment and I have recommended eQSL to ALL my DX friends.
Best regards and keep up the great work

I get a lot of QSOs where they are very emphatic that they don't want eqsls - in fact I even got an e-mail from another op berating me for having the audacity to send him one. Personally, I don't care if they download it or not but I do send one for every QSO I make (and with over 7500 QSOs over the past year or so, I'd be sitting on a mountain of paper if I went that route - HI)

What I have noticed is a sudden influx of QSLs dating back a couple of years (including a long-forgotten SSB contact on 40 with Indonesia which just arrived a couple of days ago).

Now that the word is out that CQ magazine is accepting eqsl, I think there will be a lot more returns - I have noticed it getting harder to access my inbox (the server is approaching meltdown - nearly as bad as getting Windows 7 Beta - HI).

Any that I do get that need confirmation get confirmed after I double check in my log - there are a few that manage to slip through. In the case of SWL reports, I just check that I was on air and on that band at the time they report

I made over 11,000 QSO from FG/N4CD and sent out over 2500 regular QSL cards. Until the CQ deal, , eQSLs counted basically for nothing

I made 5000 QSO from 3W2DC...I'm getting tired after 8 years of filling out QSL cards - I've sent out over 2000......and they still keep coming in via the buro.

All my logs are paper logs. It's not just a 'click' but finding folks in the log, many of them 15 mintes off or an hour off.....with 100 QSO an hour, that's a lot to find.

I have made over 300,000 contacts while county hunting. I have 40 different log books full of QSOs, and have various contest logs and other logs lying around.

Someone sends me a eQSL for a contact 10 or 15 years ago, I haven't a clue whether I was out mbile, or it is in some contest log, or whatever. SO it is a pain.

I'm working on the DX cards first...a couple thousand eQSLs to handle there..then I'll tackle some of the others.

If you don't put YOUR county on the card, you might not get one back.

For USACA, the system isn't quite set up yet to handle county awards. I would have to list it in the comments section when I am out mobile. Be sure if you want the county that YOU put down where I was, so I don't have to work even harder since time logging when out mobile isn't always accurate.....The last thing I want is for someone to send me 20 different eQSLs for a trip and me have to hunt through my logs carefully to dig out the counties. I basically log runs by the county, so put the county I was in if you want it confirmed, and put your county on your card. About 5% of the cards I get don't have the county on it, or the card is so full of color or other printing you can't read the county!

73...... (still 4000 eQSLs to process.....)....

Several years I am running a QRP station so I am happy for every eQSL I do receive. Today I did work a portable station from SV5 in the hope of getting my eQSL fast. Just for fun I did check the inbox from the operator Alex and found approx. 200 old eQSL´s waiting for a response!

Nevertheless I say "Thank you!" for any amateur radio station picking up my 2 Watt QRP station out of the static noise.

Hi Bill,

as you I do digital QSOs most of the time ,
>>Tried the email trick but no joy as yet only 4 out of 50 : <<

Problem is that even hams have not used the account for years they stay in the system .
Better then using the standard integrated email feature is to send a personal email with name ,
at least at my end I had several good feedbacks on it either to get a card at all as well if someone has had no AG membership so that his card is not counted for eQSL awards and to get him to send his licence so that he becomes AG membership .

My reply rate is about 47 % that means 1388 QSO resulted in 651 QSL-cards .

good luck ,
Uli

General problem is that eQSL is not accepted for awards in general though eQSL is doing its best , arrl and others simply refuse it to protect their own interests .
For that reason hams opened up the account , get aware of the problem and simply do not even take the time to close the account to let people know result is that other users get frustrated .
Hopefully one day eQSL things about closing accounts not used for one year and longer .
