I have read in this forum that alot of hams wont send a qsl card if you dont have both calls in the qso? Well I just listen to a contest last week or 2 and alot of the stations I copied I couldnt hear the other station. If I heard the call of the other station I would put it on the qsl card. I have enjoyed sending qsl cards out and receiveing one back. But if I send one out you bet Its one that I have Heard on 20,40,80 which I listen mostly. That includes psk, packet, rtty, and alittle cw as i learn cw.love that mode,This swl will keep me busy until I get my ham ticket back.Use to be kc4gsk years ago.Working on getting my general.so not all swl are fake. Some really work at getting the cards right the first time.

Thanks to all who sent me a e-qsl card back.

I like to see enough information to truly indicate that I was heard, and in general, I won't respond to an SWL card if the QSO in question shows up on a DX cluster.

I understand about making sure of the amount of info.but I dont know or have ever used a dxcluster.and sounds like You have no control what shows up on one.If I hear a qso I would hope that the other party would qsl as long as i have the right info.

The problem is that if the QSO pops up on a DX cluster, there are "SWL" folks who will send a card.

I didn't believe it was an issue either, but I inadvertently conducted an experiment: I spotted a QSO of mine on a DX cluster... but had some finger issues and the wrong call and band got posted. A short time later, I received SWL cards claiming to have heard it as posted.

From that day forward, I do not accept SWL cards for QSOs of mine that I find out were on a cluster. I vet SWL cards quite carefully.

However, if the card seems to be valid, I respond promptly.

73`s ham and swl friends.
True SWL`s don't use clusters. They Hunt through the bands to find the QSO`s in progress.
Like the original poster and as a SWL , I never need to use any clusters except for posting spots.
In my qsl`s , I post both operators qrz, Frequency, time, band and mode along with the text SWL ONLY .
I have received my eDX award plaque which I worked hard to get.
Anyone can look up a cluster as the above poster said and I 100% agree with him, But they are only kidding themselves.
True SWL`s as I said LISTEN hi hi.
Another point is that it is quite possible that an SWL did hear the stations in qso but dont have or are refused access to a ham cluster so that they may post the spot.
