Hello,

Just getting back in the hobby after my station was destroyed in a fire 7 years ago. Last night was my first time checking out Eqsl, and I registered to find I had 662 cards waiting for confirmation from 98-02 or so. Someone suggested "select all" and moving them to the archive to better manage my inbox, but now they're all there, un-confirmed. Is there any way to select more than one at a time and confirm them? It's very time consuming with the popup box acknowledgements. If not, I guess I'll just have to catch up as time permits.

Thanks in advance.

Bummer about the fire, Don. Welcome back.

With the caveat that I am only slightly more experienced with eQSL than you, if you happen to have your old logs in electronic format, I believe that if you upload them, the confirmation process is automatic. If your old logging program doesn't correctly prepare ADIF files, there are online utilities to help with that. Alternatively, assuming my first suggestion has some basis in reality, you might consider entering your old paper logs into one of the computerized logging programs and uploading that file. This approach has two benefits: 1) it is probably faster than the QSO-by-QSO process of manually confirming on the website because of the latencies inherent in the online manual confirmation process, and 2) it gets your logging process into a method that facilitates future uploads and confirmations.

Going back to the top of this post, if you want your confirmation eQSLs to have an appearance different from the default, you must first create your online QSL card.

I hope I'm correct. If not, I also want to hear about what I misunderstand.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for taking the time to write and your suggestions. I have already created an Eqsl card with photo. But, as far as the old logs, I have the hard drive from the computer, but have never tried to access is. I was using Dx4Win for regular logging and CT for contest logging (I believe the vast majority of them are from CW & SSB contests). So maybe I need to try to hook the old hard drive up and see if it survived the fire. I just don't recall how good those programs were 8 years ago at creating the ADIF files. Pretty sure CT did it, but no idea on Dx4Win.

I recently found a backup of an old XMlog file covering the period of 1998 to 2002. I reloaded a copy of the XMLog program and it converted the log to ADIF which uploaded just fine. That tells me that the ADIF format has been stable for quite a while and if your packages will export ADIF, you're ahead of the game assuming you can recover the log files.

Next hint: Many awards require RS/T info in the contact confirmations. A lot of contests do not include signal report in the exchange - November Sweepstakes comes to mind. I find that using a text editor on the ADIF file and doing a Find/Replace is the fastest way to correct this deficiency. Notepad is adequate for this process. Just don't use a word processing program like MSWord as it will insert a bunch of formatting codes that will corrupt the ADIF format.

I use N3FJP's logging software. ACLog will import the ADIF Contest Logs giving me a single, complete and permanent log of all activity. It's also a quick way to verify the Find/Replace. I can't speak for other programs.
