There is an EME selection under Special Propagation Mode. Take a look under the manual QSL entry. Mode would be CW, JT65, SSB, whatever. EME is classified under propagation mode (EME, aurora, etc). Cheers, Joe, K1YOW

Support - English speaking » eQSL not showing in inbox... Jul 22, 2011 05:40 PM (Total replies: 2)

Take a look in your archive and see if it is in there. I don't know why, but sometimes my eQSLs seem to bypass the inbox and go to the archive. If they are in the archive, you will still have the same options to reject or confirm the QSO. I also noticed that if I open my inbox and see an eQSL but take no action, the next time I look, it's not there, but moved to my archive. I then confirm the eQSL via the archive. Joe, K1YOW.

VHF » 6m 2m Digital Modes? May 23, 2011 06:11 PM (Total replies: 3)

Thanks Darin. The thought behind my question was to see if other countries were running digital modes in 50.0-50.1 and 144.0-144.1. For example, some of the JT65 weak signal frequencies are 50.076 and 144.076, but we can't run JT65 there in the USA. It would be nice to work JT65 on those frequencies for EME and weak signal work without getting stepped on by local SSB. But, it seems that the EME folks run JT65 on 50.260 and the PSK frequency is 50.290 as you pointed out, so the rest of the world has taken into account that USA hams can't run digital in the CW portions of 6m and 2m. Opening up all of 6m and 2m for the digital modes may be a hard sell since most of those bands are open to them. Joe, K1YOW

VHF » 6m 2m Digital Modes? May 15, 2011 01:47 PM (Total replies: 3)

We here in the USA can run the various digital modes in the HF CW sub bands. However, here in the USA for 6m and 2m, in 50.0 - 50.1 and 144.0 - 144.1, only CW is allowed. The digital modes are allowed in the rest of the band. My question to you folks in other countries: where can you run the various digital modes (i.e. PSK, RTTY, MFSK, Hell, THOR, etc) in the 6m and 2m bands? Can you run them in 50.0-50.1 and 144.0-144.1?
Thanks,
Joe

DX » Propagation... the Fine Points... Apr 22, 2011 07:12 PM (Total replies: 6)

Lots of things are going on. If one has many xray flares and no heavy particle impacts, then the F2 layer heats-up and long haul communications gets better on the higher frequencies, i.e. MUF rises. If one gets heavy particles (CME, auroras, etc), they cause geomagnetic storms and disturbances, so the lower frequencies will absorb more RF - less useful, and MUF drops. So you want xray flares w/o CMEs for higher MUF and if your A index drops from 14-4, that is good for better low freq paths (i.e. 80m, 40m). Ideal situations for good long haul F2 layer propagation would be a lot of xray flares and very low A and K indicies. And as Andy said, check out some of the good on-line references. Cheers, Joe, K1YOW
