Promoting eQSLs to ham organizations » ARRL LOTW & acceptance of eQSL Feb 4, 2007 07:54 AM (Total replies: 23)

I haven't seen anyone post the official ARRL stance on eQSL's so here is a link to the ARRL policy statement.

http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2002/03/07/100/

If someone has submitted printed eQSL's they are in violation of ARRL's policy even though the QSL may have slipped through the cracks and may have been accepted.

I don't like their policy of not accepting eQSL's but if you want a valid DXCC...well read their policy...

One way they will accept an eQS, per their DXCC Q&A:

Q: Is there any other way that an e-QSL might be acceptable for DXCC credit?

A: Yes. If you receive an electronic QSL that you can print on your printer you can then mail it to the station you worked for his signature. If the station makes a handwritten notation on the card, acknowledging the QSO, this can be used for DXCC credit.

Support - English speaking » Consolidating three portable accounts Feb 3, 2007 01:19 PM (Total replies: 1)

I would like to consolidate my three W6ZF/1 accounts if at all possible. The first W6ZF/1 account covers 22 Jun 04 to 17 Feb 06, the second account covers 24 Feb 06 to 27 Feb 06 and the third account covers 05 May 06 to 22 Jun 14.

Is it at all possible to change the first W6ZF/1 account dates to 22 Jun 04 - 22 Jun 14 and then place the QSL's for the other two accounts within that one? I have a W6ZF/W1 account as well but since that is a different eQSL entity it should be left alone.

Once the vanity call sign program gets going again I anticipate a new call sign and will fix the end date for my current open accounts. I will create the new account for the new call sign when it is issued...just for now I am interested in the above action.

Thank you.

Jim, W6ZF soon to be W1KQ.

Support - English speaking » Incorrect Grid Square. Feb 3, 2007 01:04 PM (Total replies: 3)

Along the same line...it looks as though the maidenhead for my zip code was used and being right on the border of two grids of course the incorrect grid would be posted. I am located in grid FN42ip and would like my 3 W6ZF/1 and 1 W6ZF/W1 accounts to reflect the correct grid and not FN41iq please.

Thank you.

Jim, W6ZF

General web site suggestions » Please post any suggestions here Nov 27, 2006 11:33 PM (Total replies: 34)

Oh, here's where suggestions are requested...

I would like to see a checkbox or button that when activated would leave a notice to SKED requestors that this station is not currently accepting Sked requests.

Is it possible to create a button that would inform the requestor that a particular station is not currently accepting Sked requets and would reject the request at the time it's made?

Getting more eQSLs » What do you do with eQSLs? Nov 27, 2006 11:12 PM (Total replies: 31)

eQSL's can be used for awards offered by eQSL itself...that's what can be done with them for one.

I wanted to mention somewhere and maybe this isn't the right place but when I go into the Awards section I'm told that I don't qualify for any because I "Must upgrade my membership to Bronze, Silver or Gold." Well there are TWO reasons I don't qualify and the main reason I don't is that with over 6,000 QSO's entered I have only 68 countries confirmed and only 48 states confirmed. I think that NON-AG members should have limited ability to receive eQSL's until they become AG members.

I will upgrade my membership when I obtain enough valid eQSL's to be eligible for awards.

Thanks Marty. The fun meter is pegged.
Unless I'm doing something incorrectly, looks like the system allows us to have overlapping dates. I kept my main account as it is and created an attached /W1 account with a 18 Feb 06 start date and a 20 Feb 06 end date. Within a short while there were 20 eQSL's which arrived into the /W1 account. Now I have to sort out the dates for the /1 use and create an account for that (those). I decided to run this latest contest using W6ZF without the portable identifier. The contest rules state you must show your geographic location in your call but I don't see very many doing it and things are going pretty well so far as it is. When I first got this call I kept having to repeat myself but now that doesn't seem to be a problem as my call appears in more index files.
Still learned something from this forum though. Thanks for the information.

JJ, W6ZF aka Marty (hi)

Okay. Thank you. I did just that for one of the periods in question. Is there a way to transfer eqsl's from one account to the other? Or do I need to delete them in one and resubmit the ADI file into the other? Thanks.

Post Script: Do I have to create a portable account each different time I use a portable call or can I use the same start and ending dates to coincide with my "Home" call?

If I put my portable call sign under my former call signs (two lines below) W6ZF/1 or W6ZF/W1 on the face of my eQSL card design will eQSL credit be given to stations that work me when I used either portable identifier in contests?

I just ran into this same thread in the English support area. Maybe this will work for now...I placed my contest calls W6ZF/1 and W6ZF/W1 under my former calls on the face of my eQSL card design.

Some of the contests recommend using "/#" when operating in an area outside your normal call area. I have done just that and have operated as W6ZF/1 on SSB and W6ZF/W1 on CW. It has resulted in less questions asking if I am in "6 land" but it has brought up another thing...DX stations who have worked me indicate that they have me in their logs as one or the other " /1" or "/W1"...Is there a way in eQSL to show that? I currently reside in the first US call area and have the call sign of my deceased uncle.

One can suggest that I just go back to plain W6ZF...without the "portable one" or "stroke one" but then things will go back to numerous questions asking if I'm in California...especially in CW when the exchange is 599 MA and they ask "CA?" especially when sigs aren't really 599 but 339 or worse. I send dahdah didah and not dahditdahdit didah.....Arghhhh!
